Policy engagements

What you get on either track.

Subscriptions cover Tova access. Policy work is scoped separately, drafting from scratch or redlining what you already have. Here's the actual work product from each.

Deliverables

What you get, whether we draft from scratch or revise what you have

  • Final policy or handbook in Word (.docx) and PDF, revisions also include a redline plus clean accepted-changes version
  • State-specific language for each jurisdiction in scope
  • Reviewer memo: what changed and why (revisions) or authorities relied on (new drafts)
  • Acknowledgment form and attorney sign-off before release
Process & timeline

How the work moves, and how long it takes

Business-day estimates assume timely client responses. Clock pauses when we're waiting on you.

Process & Timeline

One workflow, whether we draft from scratch or revise what you have

  1. 1
    Intake + scoping
1–2 business days (2–3 for revisions)

Tova interviews on state footprint, headcount, industry-specific exposures, and any existing language. For revisions, you upload the current handbook and flag sections to touch; Tova maps it against applicable federal + state law and confirms scope (targeted sections vs. top-to-bottom).

  2. 2
    Tova drafts or redlines
    3–5 business days

New drafts: state-specific drafting against current federal + state law, with multi-state variants where required. Revisions: tracked-changes markup with a section-by-section change log citing statutes, regs, cases, and guidance; gap report identifies missing policies and sections to remove or promote.

  3. 3
    Attorney review
    3–5 business days

Licensed employment attorney reads, revises, and either releases or returns to Tova with instructions. Reviewer named and dated on the record.

  4. 4
    Client Q&A + revisions
    2–3 business days

You review, flag questions, request tone or scope changes, and confirm operational fit. One consolidated revision pass before release.

  5. 5
    Release
    Same day

Final Word + PDF, reviewer memo, acknowledgment form, and rollout checklist delivered. Revisions also include the redlined file, clean accepted-changes companion, change log, and gap report. 30-day clarification pass included.

Typical end-to-end
Single policy
~2 weeks end-to-end
Core 5
3–4 weeks end-to-end
Full handbook
5–7 weeks end-to-end (4–6 for revisions)

Business-day estimates assume timely client responses; clock pauses when waiting on you. Rush track (attorney availability permitting): compress each step to next-business-day. Multi-state (5+) scope adds ~1 week. Redline timelines assume a workable current handbook; if Tova flags it as unsalvageable, we'll recommend a fresh draft and re-quote before starting.

FAQ

Is this per user or per company?

Per company. One subscription covers every manager, people leader, and HR contact at your organization.

What happens after the 7-day trial?

You'll need an active Starter, Pro, Pro Plus, or Scale subscription to continue using Tova beyond the trial. Your case history and documents remain accessible after subscribing.

What if my company operates in more than one state?

Add multi-state coverage to your plan for a flat monthly add-on based on your tier. Tova will apply the relevant leave, notice, and termination requirements for each state you tell her you operate in. Scale includes multi-state coverage at no extra cost.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. You can cancel from your billing portal. You'll keep access through the end of your current billing period.

Do you draft new policies, revise our existing handbook, or both?

Both, priced separately. Choose new drafting when you want state-specific policies built from scratch. Choose revision (redline) when you have a current handbook and want it marked up against current federal + state law with a change log. See both side-by-side on the Policies page.

Are policy-drafting or handbook-revision engagements included in my subscription?

No, policy drafting and handbook revisions are priced separately per engagement. See the Policies page for bundles and pricing.

How does an existing handbook review work, and what do I need to provide?

Upload your current handbook (Word is best; PDF works) and tell us which sections to review or whether you want a full top-to-bottom redline. We mark up tracked changes against current federal and state law, flag outdated or missing language, and produce a clean accepted-changes companion plus a section-by-section change log with cited authorities. You should also share your state footprint, headcount, any side agreements, recent policy changes or litigation, and business context (remote, industry). If the handbook is too far gone to salvage, we'll quote a rewrite instead.
